Black Lives Matter: 2012-2018
"Black Lives Matter" addresses gun violence against Black men in the USA. After Trayvon Martin was shot in 2012, I painted the gun used to kill him in red, inscribing its name and purpose in white and blue.
This was my way of honoring Trayvon Martin, contributing to the conversation about gun violence, and drawing attention to the centuries-long nightmare of racial violence and the ongoing killings of Black people in America.
